The Philadelphia Council of the US Navy league is proud to host and invite members and guests to a special author presentation and book signing.

Mike Fabey, a longtime Defense reporter, will speak on his latest book, Heavy Metal: The Hard Days and Nights of the Shipyard Workers Who Build America’s Supercarriers. Books will be available for purchase.

Fabey’s series about a new class of U.S. Navy warships that the Pentagon rejected for its failure to meet specifications earned him the coveted 2014 Timothy White Award for journalistic integrity from the Association of Business Information and Media Companies (ABM).

“Heavy Metal presents a fresh, sympathetic perspective on the human aspects of the shipbuilding industry. It is an excellent read for anyone looking to understand the technology behind the construction of the Gerald R. Ford-class carriers.” – Proceedings

The event will take place Wednesday, July 6th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. There is NO cost for Council members and $25 for nonmembers which also gets you a 1-year membership and digital publications from the US Navy League National. Location: Manayunk Brewery, 4120 Main St, Philadelphia, Pa. 19127. Refreshments will be served.
