Interviews individuals being considered for Board and Officer positions, and provides the President with a summary of the individuals’ strengths and weaknesses as they relate to the positions for which the individuals are being considered. Also performs other functions at the President’s request including, for example, conducting searches in an effort to identify individuals to fill various Council positions.
Assists the Council in the preparation of the Council’s budget and other fiscal matters incidental to the operation of the Council. This includes: overseeing the Council’s finances including its bank and investment accounts; providing a Monthly Treasurer’s Report; ensuring the Council’s tax return is filed in a timely manner; and arranging and overseeing the Council’s annual financial audit.
Proposes the Council’s schedule of events and meetings (Board and General Membership) to the Board of Directors for a vote and, once approved, oversees the execution of the scheduled events and meetings.
Revises, updates and maintains the Council’s website, Facebook page and other social media content with a goal of posting Council events, meetings, etc.
Ensures an accurate accounting of all Council members; regularly contacts Council members regarding events and meetings; and strives to increase active membership involvement in the Council.
Oversees all aspects of the various youth organizations the Council supports including Sea Cadets, ROTC, Young Marines, etc. This includes, but is not limited to, establishing close relationships with the organizations, providing awards and monetary payments approved by the Board.
Oversees all aspects of the various sea service organizations the Council supports including ships, submarines and vessels that comprise the Council’s Ship Adoption Program as well as military installations such as Coast Guard Sector Bay. This includes, but is not limited to, establishing close relationships with the organizations, providing awards and monetary payments approved by the Board.
In alignment with the Council’s mission and social impact strategy, this is an action-based committee that assists sea service members in finding employment opportunities (e.g., hold and/or support job fair events, leverage our social media platforms, utilize the membership’s network of contacts).
